Rene

Sometimes doodling is good for brainstorming.

Translation: "Waaaah! Alas! I am alone on the earth!"

I'm writing a short paper about Chateaubriand's Rene' tonight for my French literature class. To put it as un-academically and unsympathetically as possible, Rene is a whiny little forever alone guy. I'm not counting the wife that the Indians in Louisiana made him marry. He pretty much ignores her.

The caption in the cartoon is almost word-for-word what the text says. I didn't even make up the "alas."

I thought this paper was going to be easy because the minimum length requirement is one page and it's only a rough draft. I guess I forgot that I write about three times more slowly in French than I do in English. It hurts my brain a lot more, too.
